JD MIller on Making More: The Podcast

An interview by Billy Fisher

Executive Summary

I joined Billy Fischer on Making More to talk about how basic communication principles dictate organizational success, from my experiences in early dot-com environments to modern private equity backed companies.

Drawing on my background in organizational communication and my current work as a board advisor and CRO in residence for Five Arrows, we examined the mechanics of driving enterprise value during compressed operational timelines.

Our conversation focused on the structural shifts that occur when companies scale. I noted that navigating private equity cycles requires a clear understanding of value creation levers, much like a calculated renovation on a condensed mortgage timeline. We addressed the inherent leadership challenge of virtual environments, where digital interactions risk becoming purely transactional, stripping away the trusted bonds that build real culture. True organizational longevity requires leaders to shift from direct problem-solving to empathetic coaching, helping unique teams run on their own.

This evolution forms the basis of my broader work, including the operational insights in The CRO's Guide to Winning in Private Equity and my analysis of sales technologies in The AI Handbook for Sales Professionals.
